Mr. Lochan K Adhikari is HoD (DM & DMT) and one of the founding members of ATTC who joined as a Lecturer after completing his B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering in 1999. Right from his school days he was an active participant in various science events and has represented his school at District, State and National Level. He had a great passion towards engineering and in his own words says, “It was by pure accident that I came to join ATTC but passion made me to stay here all these decades.”
He completed his Senior Secondary with First Class from TNSS, Gangtok and passed Mechanical Engineering with Distinction before he joined ATTC. Later on, he upgraded his qualification by completing his M.Tech in Mechatronics with Distinction from West Bengal University of Technology. He is also a member of Institution of Engineers (India) and Certified Chartered Engineers. In the year 2000, he was one of the members selected for one year Aus- Aid Capacity Building Program organized by Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Melbourne. He is certified as a Work-place Assessor by WINTRAIN Training and Development Services under the State Training Board of Victoria, Australia. He is also a certified trainer of Mechanical Skills by Indo –Swiss Training Centre, CSIO Chandigarh and has undergone several Executive Development Programmes on Leadership from India’s premier B-schools like MDI, Gurgaon, IIM, Ahemdabad and IIM, Bangalore. He has undergone numerous training programs from premier Government and private Institutions like NITTTR, Kolkata, NITTTR, Chennai, NITTTR, Chandigarh, Indo German Tool Room, Indore, NTTF, Bangalore, ATI, Hyderabad and many more.
He was associated with Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Majhitar (SMIT) for around six years as External Examiner of various subjects of Under Graduate courses. He is also a regular member of selected external examiners for undergraduate courses at College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology (CAEPHT), Central Agricultural University, Sikkim. He was also a guest faculty in Engineering Department at ICFAI University, Sikkim.
One of his chief focuses of attention has been motivating students of rural parts of the country. In order to achieve this, he makes it a point to visits schools especially in remote areas of Sikkim, West Bengal and the neighboring regions and therefore gets to meet thousands of children every year. As a result, he is often invited during various occasions at different schools and NGOs and has also been awarded appreciation certificates by various NGO for his service to society.
Besides his overwhelming responsibilities, he primarily has a great passion for teaching. At present, he takes classes for Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology and Mechatronics and has special interest in Teaching CNC technology to students of all Departments of ATTC.
