The Department of Computer Engineering established in the year 2009 is one of the five Engineering departments in ATTC. The department first introduced Diploma in Computer Application in 2006 with 18 boys and 7 girls. The importance of changing the discipline from Computer Application to Computer Engineering was felt back in 2009 in order to serve the growing need of manpower with specialization in Diploma in Computer Engineering (DCE) and to keep in tune with the current nomenclature.
The Computer Engineering department, since its inception, has maintained a steady growth in every sphere of its activities and played an important role in bringing a vibrant and forward-looking academic environment within the College.
The department runs AICTE approved, National Board of Accreditation (NBA) accredited course and presently has over 100 students and over 7 faculty members. Faculty of the Department have published various research papers in different National & International Journal and to stay in trend with emerging technology they attend various conferences and workshops in the state and outside. The department has recently released the XIVth edition of its newsletter ”Attconnections” with the help of the students in an effort to be a key tool in strengthening relationship with the students and also allowing them to keep in touch with the latest news of the department. In addition to this several student projects are developed every year with its application in various department of the college and some also outside the Institute. We also consistently work towards providing training to its students and faculty, conducting over various training programs throughout the year on topics like IoT,Mobile Applications, Networks etc.
The department has also taken several new initiatives in restructuring and strengthening its academic programs over the past years. The curriculum is revised every 3 years and a new curriculum was introduced in 2016 with key focus on practical understanding and current trends. The curriculum for DCE also includes interaction with the industries every year where in our students visits local industries like Sikkim Milk, Pharmaceutical Industries, Sikkim Supreme,NIC,BSNL Office in its first year and in the second year they have a 3-day interaction with industries and Technical Schools outside the state like IIT,Guwahati and software companies like e-Bluesoft,Kolkata and in the Final Year they are to complete a month long Industrial internship or training .We also have a number of extra curricular activities and sports activities scattered throughout the year to allow our students to break from the mundane and explore their creative sides. Also to improve the student’s social understanding of the society we conduct village camps every year wherein our students stay in the village for a few days and work with the Panchayats and schools in that area.
Through placements the department has seen its students in various companies like Demi Solutions,Sibin in the state and companies like WebSkitters,Kolkata etc. However the trend has been that our students either opt for further studies, having being accepted in many prestigious engineering colleges throughout the country or work towards establishing themselves in a startup thereby producing various successful entrepreneurs.

• Coaching to students for further studies.
• Software Club Activities.
• Publication of papers in various Journals.
